Who we are
YANG SELI is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), registered in June 2025.
The charity was established in response to persistent mental health inequalities experienced by men from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, particularly those aged 16–45.
Our purpose
Our charitable purpose is to preserve and protect good mental health by:
- Increasing awareness of, and reducing stigma around, men’s mental health
- Providing accessible support, information and advice
- Creating opportunities for men to share experiences and access peer support through meetings and activities
Why We Focus on Men Aged 16–45 from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Communities
Evidence consistently shows that men from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds are:
- More likely to experience poorer mental health outcomes
- Less likely to access early mental health support
- More likely to encounter mental health services through crisis or emergency pathways
By focusing our work in this area, YANG SELI is able to provide targeted, culturally informed
support where the need is greatest, while working towards broader inclusion and wider
community benefit as the charity grows
