Welcome to Yang Seli
YANG SELI is a registered UK charity (No. 1213488) focused on improving the
mental wellbeing of men from Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) communities aged 16 to
45. Through peer-led support, retreats, online forums and stigma-free conversations, we help men reconnect with themselves and their communities.
Why It Matters
Mental health inequalities continue to disproportionately affect people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities in the UK.
National evidence shows that:
- Black people are significantly more likely than White people to be detained under the Mental Health Act
- Men from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds are less likely to access early mental health support through primary care
- Cultural stigma, lack of trust in services, and limited access to culturally appropriate support can delay help-seeking until people reach crisis point
These inequalities are not inevitable. YANG SELI works to address them through early
intervention, peer support, education and community-led approaches that place lived
experience and trust at the centre of mental health support.
